2014 Cherry Blossom Performing Arts & Music Festival

This one of a kind music and educational experience is one of the premier student performance opportunities in the southeastern United States. Our 3 day event combines a spectacular music al performance showcase and music education camp, which will be hosted by the University of Florida's School of Music and will be held on UF's campus in Gainesville, FL. on April 11-13, 2014. The event is open to all Choral, orchestra, jazz, and band ensembles; Orchestra and Band ensembles will perform on April 11, Choral ensembles will perform on April 13, and both will participate in the workshops and on-campus activities on April 12th. In addition to an adjudicated performance, which will be held at the University Auditorium- UF’s main performance auditorium, each group will participate in the following educational experiences:

  • Master Class Workshop
  • Post-Performance Clinic
  • Campus Pop-up Performances
  • University and Music school admissions presentation
  • University of Florida Campus Tour

In addition, your group will receive training, adjudication, and clinical feedback from some of the top choral, band, and orchestra educators in the state including:


Dr. David Waybright- Director of Bands at UF
Raymond Chobaz- Director and Conductor of the UF Symphony Orchestra
Dr. Will Kesling- Conductor and Director of Choral Activities at UF
Jay Watkins- of the Gator Marching Band
Chip Birkner- Director of UF Concert Bands
Scott Wilson- Director of Jazz Studies at UF
Dr. Russell L. Robinson- Head of Choral Music and Music Education


And many more of UF's esteemed music professionals!

Suggested Itinerary (groups NOT required to stay all days)

Day 1- Thursday, April 10, 2014 (Optional)
  • Arrive Gainesville, FL
  • Dinner
  • Attend a spring concert performance by the University of Florida Symphonic Band
  • Arrive hotel
Day 2 Friday, April 11, 2014 (Band and Orchestra)
  • Adjudicated performance festival for Band and Orchestra ensembles
  • Off-stage private clinics
  • Master Class workshops
  • Optional off-campus activity (day trip to Disney World or Busch Gardens)
  • Dinner
  • Return to hotel
Day 3 Saturday, April 12, 2014 (All ensembles)
  • Breakfast
  • Private workshops and professional presentations
  • University of Florida admissions session and School of Music presentation
  • Lunch on campus
  • Guided our of the University of Florida campus
  • Free time on campus / pop-up performances
  • Attend a mini-concert by the University of Florida School of Music- band, choir, and orchestra performances
Day 4 Sunday, April 13, 2014 (Choral)
  • Adjudicated performance festival for Choral ensembles
  • Off-stage private clinics
  • Master Class workshops
  • Optional off-campus activity (day trip to Disney World or Busch Gardens)
  • Return home
