Homework For All
One of the keys to pulling off a successful class trip is preparation. That is, preparing yourself and your students for the potentially life-changing experience that lies ahead. Doing your research and homework upfront will enable you to get the most out of this enlightening opportunity.

Teachers and Educators
The minds of our youth are in your hands each and every day. These students need to be prepared academically for their educational trips, as do you. Make sure your students have the knowledge they need to get the most out of their class trip experience. Enrich them with the history and culture of the area you are visiting. Help them understand what makes the destination(s) unique, and what they can learn from being there.

Parents
For many parents, sending their child off on a class trip can be a very unnerving event. To give you peace of mind and to ensure that your child has the best experience possible, be sure to set and discuss your expectations up front. If you want your child to check in with you on a daily basis, let them know this before they leave. When students get wrapped up in the excitement of class trips they often forget to check in with mom and dad. Also, be sure to go over topics such safety, behavior, and spending. Budget for the trip and make sure your child has enough spending and “emergency” money set aside; a credit, or prepaid debit card for “emergency” use only may be in order.

Students
Your class trip is going to be an event that creates lifetime memories. It may be your first step on a journey of lifelong travel. Make sure you're ready for it. Research and create a plan for the destination you are visiting. Delve into the culture and understand what makes the area cool. Make a list of things you want to see while you are there. “Visiting” a destination and “experiencing” a destination are two different things. Make sure you get the most out of your class trip and experience everything the area has to offer.

Remember, you will only get out of your trip what you put into it.
